Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Compact’ – Compact Aquatic Plant
Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Compact’ is a beautiful, bushy aquatic plant known for its compact growth habit, short internodes, and numerous side shoots. Also known as Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Mini’ and Nomaphila siamensis ‘Parvifolia’, this plant is an excellent choice for creating dense green bushes in freshwater aquariums.
Features of Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Compact’
With its naturally compact growth, Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Compact’ is ideal for the foreground and midground of planted aquariums. Its dense, bushy appearance makes it particularly suitable for nano tanks and aquascaping layouts where space is limited. Regular trimming helps maintain its compact shape and encourages healthy, bushier growth.
This aquatic plant has moderate lighting requirements and can grow well in a variety of aquarium setups, including deeper tanks. It is relatively undemanding and suitable for hobbyists looking for an attractive, easy-to-maintain aquarium plant. However, it may be somewhat sensitive to iron deficiency, so providing adequate nutrients can help maintain healthy growth and vibrant foliage.
Care and Propagation
Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Compact’ can be maintained at a compact height through regular pruning. When the plant grows taller than desired, simply trim the shoots to maintain its shape. The cuttings can be replanted to propagate new plants, making it easy to expand your planted aquarium over time.
Whether you are creating a lush aquascape or adding greenery to a small aquarium, Hygrophila corymbosa ‘Compact’ is a versatile choice for freshwater planted tanks.
